Uncut DVD
Genre: Martial arts action
Producers: Toei Animation/FUNimation

The Skinny: Without Goku, the heroes have to face a quintet of powerful alien fighters, led by an unstoppable force known as Bojack.
Think: Dragon Ball Z without Goku
Rating: 13+
Where Found: In video stores courtesy of FUNimation Entertainment
Pros: A brutal uncut movie that fits in nicely between the Cell Saga and the Kai Tournament.
Cons: Too short, too little extras, toy ads not related to DBZ at the beginning?
My Take:
Goku is dead.
Because of the events that led to his death, a new evil has been freed. Just in time for the Budoukai. Not the regular Budoukai mind you, but a very special World Martial Arts Tournament. See, the son of eccentric millionaire X.S. Cash (for you purists out there, he's still called Gyosan Money in the subbed version, also on this release) received this tournament as a gift from his father. Warriors from all over the galaxy gathered together on Earth to take on the Champ, Mr. Satan (none of that "Hercule" business), who is still having stomach problems at the sight of the "Z-Warriors" who were also participating, including Piccolo, Krillan, Yamcha, Tien, the fan-favorite future version of Trunks, and Gohan. Vegeta, who in his own way was still mourning the death of Goku, skipped the competition altogether.
Then, in the heat of the finals, something went wrong. Instead of facing students of Mr. Satan, the finalists (Krillan, Gohan, Trunks, and Red Shirt, I mean Daisuke) found themselves fighting a quartet of blue alien fighters with orange hair. Krillan, Trunks, and Gohan found themselves injured while Daisuke found himself dead. His death convienced Vegeta to come to the battlefield, and Goku, still walking down Snake Way, is powerless to do anything being that he's dead and all. King Kai enlightened his student about the origins of Bojack, the mastermind behind this beautifully orchestrated attack. The soldiers of Bojack fell, and Bojack took over the fight, driving all the warriors into unconsciousness, except for Gohan. Out of nowhere, a force completely changes the direction of the battle, but will it be enough to stop the onslaught of Bojack?
This latest DBZ movie is an interesting continuation of the series and one of the few movies that could actually fit in the continuity of the Dragon Ball Z series. The dub voices you either love or love to hate are still in place and doing a fantastic job (and if you're a fan of the original Japanese voices, they're there too, as are Head-Cha-La and the Japanese titles). The script is well-translated for the American audiences and not burdened with a lot of profanity. Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of putting in profanity for shock value, just when it's necessary. The ending was predictable, but the movie was well-produced. Bojack Unbound definitely shows the power of Gohan, something I haven't seen in ages, and probably something that won't be seen again. DBZ: Bojack Unbound is explosive from beginning to end, packed with all the fun and action you've come to expect from the world of Dragon Ball Z.
