What Is The Warehouse Project?
Toonami. Miguzi. Adult Swim. These three blocks, created by a group of revolutionaries operating in a small warehouse away from the main Cartoon Network headquarters, have the highest rated shows on the network mastering action-animation and adult comedy programming. They make up, what most critics believe, the heart and soul of Cartoon Network now that classic animation has been completely abandoned by the management of the network and Warner Bros. as a whole. These blocks also bring in the demographics the network craves, and yet, they are limited by time restraints and strange limits. While many believe that Cartoon Network's overall lineup has suffered in recent years, many others agree that these blocks are what keeps many viewers tuning in.
In August 2005, as part of the Imagine If series of articles, I wrote about a scenario in which Williams Street Productions actually had their own network. You can still find that article right here. The more I described this hybrid of elements created by the guys behind Toonami, Adult Swim, and Miguzi, the more I thought, "Why the hell isn't this even on the drawing boards?"
And so, similar to the approach I did back when I started The X Bridge as CN2: Toonami Realm, I think it's time to create a campaign of sorts. When I started the site, the CN2 Toonami Inner Circle's core mission was to convince Cartoon Network to create a spinoff network dedicated to Toonami. The mission of The Warehouse Project is to convince Cartoon Network that a new network completely operated and managed by Williams Street Productions should become a reality. I have created a reason to launch the network and a workable schedule that could be in place for at least a couple of quarters without sacrificing anything.
So, with the permission of the readers of The X Bridge, I think it's time to introduce The Warehouse Project.
