Saturday morning is dead.
Not the actual period in the day, but the history, legacy, traditions, and fun of the daypart. The reason why kids didn't mind getting up at 7:30 AM on a day that isn't related to school is no longer alive. In its place is a bloated corpse, covered with flies and surrounded by rotting flesh covered with tags bearing the initials E/I and unrecognizable names like TNBC, 4Kids TV, KOL, and qubo on its back. It's a horrible sight to see, as anyone who has witnessed Saturday mornings on broadcast television can tell you. It shouldn't have The legacy of Saturday morning has been dead for a long time, and yet, the murderer hasn't been caught nor exposed.
There have been suspects mentioned publicly by all sides, and as a detective of sorts, I've been following this cold case for quite a while. I've concluded that there are six suspects that have all played a part in the murder of Saturday Mornings. These suspects are:
- The broadcast networks themselves.
- The United States government (including Congress and the Federal Communications Commission)
- Peggy Charren and the Action for Children's Television
- Mega mergers in the entertainment industry
- Cable networks like Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network
- Outside interests like the internet, outdoor activities, and other things
I know all their motives. I know why they did it. I know why they're accused. I know who the murderers are, and yes, there is more than one murderer. For the next month, I'm going to expose everything and, in the process, exonerate the innocent and expose the guilty.
Starting now, I'm going to tell you all about the suspects and clear one of them at the end of act one of this series.
Without further adieu, Act One: The Suspects.
