You know, every year around this time, people reflect on the good and bad about the year behind us as we look ahead to the new year. I'm doing my part with the Toonami 2002 Year in Review. But I'm going to be honest.

I didn't like 2002 at all. January completely sucked (and I turned 24, an otherwise pointless life milestone). February sucked a lot less, and I got back online (the updates followed). March was buggin' and too many sour events happened. April was . . . eh. May got a little interesting and was probably one of my better months (finally graduated from college). Summer was completely uninteresting this year. September was lackluster, except for that announcement from Cartoon Network UK launched a new action-oriented network with a very familiar name (I swear, if I receive another letter about what the name of that damned song that's playing in the Gundam Wing promo again . . . ). October was too short to be noticed (it obviously wasn't noticed by Cartoon Network, who didn't celebrate their tenth anniversary like they should have). November was blah. And December was just as blah.

Nothing really happened. It was just another boring year, and I'm hoping that it'll be a lot more exciting next year.

Oh well. It's time to look ahead, because yesterday's history and tomorrow's a mystery. We're living in the now, and now's the place where I want to be.

Yeah, I watched Crest of the Stars last night on TechTV. It had way too many commercials. I could understand why they had commercials, but that was a lot of ads in one sitting. Maybe my old eyes are too used to the one break per show on Toonami and Adult Swim. I can also understand why they're going for a "one series per night at a time" format. It's a good way to show a short series, but then again. it lacks variety for those who want to see something different. Some people might be turned off by the heavy drama of CotS and would rather see something more action-oriented like Betterman. I understand that this is still an experimental block, and I hope it succeeds!

Almost everybody under the sun believes that Cartoon Network will become a general audiences network in 2003, and that the Adult Swim New Year's Marathon will be the first step. I doubt it, but then again, nothing Cartoon Network does these days surprise me. It'll be a step in the right direction, but I don't know if it's one they really want to take. They wear pink tutus down in Atlanta, you know (well, Dee-Dee does).

Hope you all have a safe and happy new year, and if the fates allow, maybe we'll do it again next year.

Until we are one, later.
