WATCH THIS SPACE #3: Welcome Back to CNX

Out with the old, in with the new!The X. An enigmic character that represents both variable numbers as well as the unknown. X always mark the spot for valuable treasures. To some folks, X represent coolness, extravagance, and insane risks. Some people fear the letter X without even understanding it.

Welcome to a site that has evolved in its four-year run from a network campaign site for an almost obscure cable block to a site dedicated to providing the latest news and information about everything you wanted to know about Toonami to its current incarnation as a site dedicated to all things action, from the cable block it was inspired by to the latest in action-animation, comics, and anime. This site, no longer restrained by the rules of the beast, has found rejuvenation and spirit in this rebirth. Guided by a higher purpose, the site has found a sense of history, adventure, inquisition, honor, and something I haven't felt in a while . . . fun. I'm having fun recreating CNX from the ground up. I've kept in tune with the three sections of CNX unleashed this week.

Wait, wait. THREE SECTIONS?

Yup. Three sections. For the first time ever, I have made three totally different sections of the site, each with its own voice and it's own purpose to the original vision of CNX, which has always been to provide the Toonami-loving masses news and information about action-animation and comics.

Here they are:

  • CNX Opinions: A CNX mainstay since day one. I have been, more or less, been a fairly opinionated guy. I've made my qualms and criticisms about the way of the animation world in public, and due to the fact that I'm not affiliated with any media organization, I'm open to criticize (and on rare occasions, praise) those that I feel are doing a terrible job (or, in some other rare cases, give credit where credit is due). The notorious hall of Infamous Losers (the HFIL) has grown since its inception in August '99, with new articles even as we speak, and there are commentaries also found here. I'm becoming more opinionated around here at CNX. All those that dare tread to that area between suckitude and excellence are hereby warned. Enter at your own peril.

(UPDATE, FROM THE FUTURE! Egads, that Harris guy talks a lot. Okay, I'm editing this page that was written almost four years ago, and to be honest, some things have changed since then. If you're actually reading this article, thanks! Guess that means what I had to say still has some kind of relevance. Either that, or you're just bored and want to look through the site. What was formerly in this space was descriptions about a couple of projects that didn't exactly pan out. The original Toonami Satellite can be seen in some form over at Absolution NeXt (ANX). Code Matrix has taken the torch in that aspect of my site and has done a great job. In 2004, I introduced The TICA Base, which is dedicated to the history of Toonami not seen elsewhere on the internet as well as over 70 Toonami-related opinions and articles. The Bridge, on the other hand, is now the name of the site, The X Bridge when I changed it in the spring of 2003. To dwell on what used to be and what could have been seems like a moot point. And now, back to the long-winding words of, um, a younger me. -jh, 4/25/06)

    *end transmission*

I haven't strayed from the original vision, and, unlike what some old site said in a recent article, I have no plans to deviate from Toonami. This is, afterall, CNX: Toonami Revolution. The evolution has begun.

    Welcome back to CNX.

Tomorrow, I'll be back with regular news, editorials, and the usual blah here at the site, including my initial reaction to the recent programs that have aired on Toonami, Nick's first anime in ten years (and if you haven't checked it out, it's a doozy) premiering in just a few days, and an old-school connection to an old-school relaunch this week (kinda funny if you think about it, really!).

    Until we are one,
