WATCH THIS SPACE #43: Bye Bye Kellner
Some smirking broadcast exec.Thank you for your patience.

Sorry for the lack of updates last week. I had an emergency situation I had to leave home for. Family emergency (one of my relatives had emergency surgery last Wednesday, and I left town to be with them). Apparently, looking at the good ol' Infolink, not much has happened in the world of Toonami. Sure, there were promos for Rurouni Kenshin this past Saturday and promos for the final episodes of Dragonball Z, which started today (as did the long-awaited origin story of the new Toonami look which starts Monday), but nothing really happened.

It was a slow news week, and I wasn't there to cover it. Go figure.

Wait, there was this shockingly funny X-Presidents short on Saturday Night Live this week with Tom Kenny, the voice of Spongebob Squarepants, and Jeff Bergman, a former voice of Bugs Bunny, doing their established characters. Without spoiling much, it was brutal, especially for a trio of superpowered kindergardeners that once called Toonami their home.

I have to give a fond farewell to Jamie Kellner, who today has left his duties as president and CEO of Turner Broadcasting, taking his precious WB Network with him, replaced by Turner acolyte Philip Kent, who rather enjoys being in Atlanta unlike the man he replaced. Can I say that the sky seems a little bluer and the air's a little fresher today? The mood is about to change all over the world. Well, regardless, I bid farewell to a guy that basically milked everything he could get out of Cartoon Network for his broadcast network (including blocking out successful programming on CN that counterprograms what's seen on the broadcast block), a guy that turned CNN into a fluff-filled mess of a network, a guy that got rid of WCW in his reign, and a guy that basically downplayed every other Turner network, particularly the ones with the Turner name attached to it (that's TBS, TNT, Turner South, and Turner Classic Movies). Did I mention that he didn't want to be in Atlanta in the first place? Just wanted to make sure we understood what was going on.

So long, you vile, evil little Smirk, you sad, strange little man. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Wait, was that mean?

I'll be back. Go to the official site and check out the new comic, if you haven't already. Click on the ad for the Gundam contest.

Until we are one, later.
