I have learned a couple of things this week.
Perhaps I was premature into just limiting in presenting the 10 Most Important Shows of Toonami. Well, I agree with the choices that I made and the shows that I listed. I think I might have slighted the latest addition to Toonami, Rurouni Kenshin. Oh my goodness, what a great show! Okay, I had my opinions about the show before I saw it. LOVED the OVA, but I never saw the actual series. I had cautious feelings about the series because I actually heard it was going to be lighter than the OVA. Rurouni Kenshin is definitely lighter than Trust and Betrayal, but it no way diminished the quality of the series. It's only been five episodes, but the mystery of Kenshin has already deepened the drama of the series, making it the must see series of Toonami right now.
Yeah, the new look of Toonami is a chocolate bar with new improved filling, kind of like the "new and improved" Milky Way from a couple of years ago. It's the same old Milky Way, but the caramel filling tastes so much better. It's a cosmetic change, but at least the inner structure has been changed just enough so you could notice it. It's not a bad thing per say, but I think a lot of viewers expected a little more than TOM sitting on his duff an pushing buttons, though I'll admit, I'm a huge fan of the old-school mantra the block is displaying in the promos.
