WATCH THIS SPACE #56: Nothing's Happening
With this new shell, I could be . . . a SUPERHERO! But first . . . In the almost five years I've been doing this thing, I tried to put anything and everything on the site at once.

I'd try to squeeze in anything that's worth mentioning like, say, that New York Daily News article the other day, the conclusion of Endgame (which ruled), and the new commercials for Justice League's daily stripping (which are very, very cool, BTW). Heck, I'd even talk about this and that. However, since the primary focus at this particular webpage is Toonami, I'm at a lost for words. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't have anything to say.

It's just that there is absolutely nothing happening in the world of Toonami.

Everything that we know so far had been announced weeks ago. Dragon Ball Z is coming to an end. We knew that. The lineup changes in a couple of weeks into the first DBZ-less Toonami since August 29, 1998. Strangely enough, there is very little activity in the world of Toonami, especially since the powers-that-be have relaunched the block in a big way last month (aw, I say that like it wasn't just a couple of weeks ago).

For a Toonami webmaster like myself, you tend to grow lazy. You grow somewhat tired, bored, listless, and downright stagnant (I've been busy, mind you, I'll explain later). I know that summer tends to be a busy time for the block, and more new stuff will come to Toonami this summer. Afterall, what's a better way to rebuild the block even further than to have it occur during the period when the most viewers will be plugged in to the network (except in those idiotic areas with year-long institutional periods for the kinder).

It'll be a little slow, but I'm afraid I'm going to leave this space for commentaries on other things that interest me in the world of action-animation. Oh, I'll still talk Toonami when the time is appropriate, but in this age of stagnation, I'm going to concentrate on other things, bridging the gap between action-animation and comic books.

Man, March was fun! The new boss making bold new changes at Turner Broadcasting. Toonami relaunches with a darker, brand new look which got rid of the fugly pipes once and for all. Rurouni Kenshin slashes all critics making an almost immediate impact on the block. DBZ comes to a close. A brand new action block premiered with a very diverse lineup. Oh, and Trigon launched on Adult Swim to much approval (except for the fricken lack of "H.T." in the opening . . . that's just as awesome as Cowboy Bebop's "Tank"). It was a fun month. Now, let's see how April ends up . . . maybe I'll have something to write this month.

Until we are one, later.
