Due to circumstances beyond my control, I couldn't log on to update the site yesterday. I had something to say yesterday, but the connections were kind of bad on the FTP side, so thank you for your patience and thanks for sticking around.
There is still nothing going on in the world of Toonami. Same new shows, no big world-shaking announcements. No new interstitials nor promos, and as a result, no love from the network nor the creators (I'd actually love to be proven wrong, fellas, so shock us, the Toonami faithful).
Well, that's not entirely true. Kenshin is starting over a week from Thursday, at least that's what the schedules say. Apparently, nobody's talking about why the sudden change in scheduling. Is it because Cartoon Network feels that the show is too violent for Toonami? Is it because they're still editing the episodes to fit the block? Or are they just delaying the episodes until June, just in time for the summertime influx of viewers? I'm hoping the latter is what the network is planning, but then again, Cartoon Network is never a sign of constant stability. Afterall, isn't this the same network that put an episode of Kenshin in Hamtaro's slot?
Say what? Yeah, that happened earlier today, just when I was looking forward to watching a new episode of the much-hated (for all the wrong reasons) former Toonami vet when all of a sudden, I saw the Kenshin cast aboard a train. The network isn't playing with a full deck. Either that, or somebody filled the control room with that sticky icky, but I digress.
Tomorrow, Viz is rereleasing the first seven collected volumes of both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in a budget-priced Shonen Jump Graphic Novel format. So, instead of paying $15 per volume, you could now pay $8 per issue. Guess you could say that Tokyopop started the budget manga volume trend, and I hope it lasts.
Read yesterday's update, and I'll get back to you tomorrow, provided the FTP doesn't go squibish on me again.
